PRESS ASSOCIATION LOOK TO AUTOMATION
PA are looking to combat dwindling margins by using a technique developed by a news agency in Denmark which enables automated reporting. There is no threat to the PA journalists as yet, as the bots will be supporting the newsroom, and the content that would be produced in the early days is likely to be football match reports. However the head of the Press Association said it was ready to start experimenting with automated sport and news stories. PA’s move brings bots to the UK for the first time, however Associated Press in the USA has been using automation in financial news articles for over a year.

EVERTON TO PIONEER USE OF RESEARCH DATA
Everton FC have become the first Premier League club to form a partnership with a university for research purposes. The Toffees have signed a five-year research partnership deal with Liverpool Hope University. The university will provide Everton with Academic resources for research purposes across four sectors, commercial, performance, technology development and governance. The end goal is to further Everton’s links with the local community and to fuel commercial growth, and a knowledge exchange through guest lecturers, placements and volunteering opportunities.

WOODS REINVENTS BRANDING FOR HIS POST-GOLF WORLD
Tiger Woods has released a new version of his brand, Tiger Woods Ventures, reinventing TW as TGR. Woods is ranked at 802 in the world currently and his best days as a player are definitely behind him. However, he’s still a Nike athlete and they seem intent on continuing the relationship as his global brand is important to them, as it is to the PGA, who also will want a continued association.“As I enter this next chapter with TGR, I’m committed to building a legacy that goes beyond just me. MUSIC STREAMING TOO PRICEY FOR UK CONSUMERS
A YouGov and Zuora survey of UK consumers shows that music streaming services are considered too expensive currently, and that many of the 90% of consumers who don’t currently subscribe to Apple Music, Google Play or Spotify would consider doing so if there was some experimentation of pricing. The research shows the 10% who do subscribe to music streaming services pay an average of just over £7 per month. 2,100 adults responded to the study. Revenues from music streaming grew by 49% to £251m in 2015, according to UK Music.
